Don't be fooled by the warmer temperatures today and thinking spring has finally arrived....Old Man Winter is not finished with us just yet! Despite periods of rain today with seasonable highs in the 40s, a potent cold front will arrive this evening. Arctic air rapidly pours in as this front stalls over the Northeast with temperatures plummeting 10 - 15 degrees overnight. This will allow rain to mix with some sleet but become all snow overnight. Folks west of I - 95 in NJ and northern PA will see most of their snow accumulations tonight but after a brief lull early tomorrow morning, the focus turns to the Mid-Atlantic as steady to moderate snow affects the daytime hours. Besides snow accumulations, temperatures fall into the 20s through the day for all areas so water from today's rain could lead to a layer of ice beneath the snow.

Right now, we are pegging the area from Washington D.C to Baltimore into Atlantic City, NJ as the bullseye where 6 - 10 inches are possible! Even Philly is under the gun for decent snowfall totals with up to 4 - 8 inches. Snow should taper off from northwest to southeast late Thursday afternoon and end for most by the nighttime hours. Bone chilling temperatures continue for the end of the work week with overnight lows Thursday in the teens and single digits with cold Friday highs in the 20s! Keep posted to WeatherWorks' blog and facebook pages as we continue to update you on this late season snow event.
