January 1, 1986: In an effort to achieve his goals of providing the best weather coverage possible to workers in the snow and ice industry based upon communication and accuracy, Meteorologist Frank Lombardo starts the weather consulting company WeatherWorks from his home in Hackettstown, NJ. Fast forward 30 years and WeatherWorks has grown into a nationally recognized and trusted brand for weather forecasts, post storm snow & ice verification and past weather reconstruction.

Frank initially worked many years by himself before hiring his first employee in 1997. Now the company's staff has expanded to 30, consisting of meteorologists, developers, and office personnel. However, Frank’s vision is still our main company goal, shown through every forecast, Certified Snowfall Total™ and forensic report. It’s a large reason why our client retention rate is 96%!

WeatherWorks has guided clients through all the major Northeast and Midwest weather events over the last three decades ranging from powerful winter storms (Storm of the Century ’93, Blizzard of ’96, President’s Day Storm of ‘03, Chicago’s Groundhog Day Blizzard of 2011, New England Blizzard of 2013 & 2015) to tropical systems (Floyd in 1999, Isabel in 2003, Irene in 2011, and Sandy in 2012) as well as severe weather and flooding events. In addition, numerous media outlets have interviewed our meteorologists during weather events including Fox Business Network, BBC World News, the Star Ledger, the Express Times, and local radio stations WCTC & WRNJ. We've even been quoted in the New York Times!

In addition to forecasting, we have served as weather experts for thousands of forensic cases across New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, testifying in court for several of them. Most cases have involved slip-and-falls injuries, property damages or roadway accidents. Frank Lombardo and Tommy Else have also been deemed Certified Consulting Meteorologists by the American Meteorological Society.

It has been our pleasure to serve the snow and ice community for the past 30 years and we are excited to continue being “Your Weather Experts” in the future. Over the next year, learn more about WeatherWorks’ history through our social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linkedin as we post highlights and celebrate the last 30 years in weather.
