A Half And Half Weekend...

April 24, 2020 // Article by: Brad Miller

After a wet Friday across the Northeast, it looks like we will have a nice start to the weekend.  And believe it or not, it's the last weekend of April.  Yep, May 1st is next Friday, but the weather hasn't been very spring-like lately.  Unfortunately, the cool and wet pattern looks to continue right through next week.  The good news, we are going to have a dry and seasonable Saturday before the rain returns for Sunday.  So, a half and half weekend is on the way.  High pressure will lend to a mainly sunny Saturday, although clouds will increase during the afternoon, especially across Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey.  It will be milder as well compared to recent days.  Here is a look at 2 PM temperatures for Saturday.

Skies will turn cloudy Saturday night, then we'll watch rain advance towards the I-95 corridor early Sunday.  Washington, DC will see the rain first, then it will spread northeast through the day likely reaching Boston Sunday afternoon.  This means parts of New England may actually stay dry for the majority of the weekend, but these weather systems tend to arrive earlier than what guidance shows.  That being said, once the rain begins, it will likely stick around into Monday as low pressure will be slow to exit.  In fact, interior parts of the Northeast and New England may change to snow late Sunday night into Monday.  Either way, expect a fair amount of precipitation for the end of the weekend and into the early part of the new work week.  Here is a look at total rainfall that can be anticipated through Monday evening.

Well, that's it for now.  If you can, get out and enjoy some of the sunshine on Saturday while of course practicing social distancing.  Have a nice weekend everyone and we'll have more information on this pesky storm on Monday.
