A Taste Of Spring This Week...

March 9, 2021 // Article by: Brad Miller

After a cold weekend here in the Northeast, we have a taste of spring on the way for the rest of the work week.  Tuesday night will be on the chilly side as most locations away from the coast fall below freezing, but that will likely be the last time until this weekend.  Also, it stays dry for the next few days with just a few rain showers possible on Friday.  After the cool start to Wednesday, ample sunshine will help push afternoon highs into the 50s and low 60s.  Here is a look at the forecast temps for 1 PM Wednesday.

The only caveat will be right along the coast including the Jersey shore, Long Island, and southern New England.  Here, temperatures will be cooler due to the south wind off the chilly Atlantic.  In fact, the south shore of Long Island make have trouble reaching 50 degrees on Wednesday.  In this situation, the further inland you go, the warmer it gets.

Thursday will be the warmest day this week as winds turn southwest.  This will help warm the coastal locations as well. But again, Long Island may suffer a bit as afternoon highs only reach the 50s.  Here is a look at forecast temps for 1 PM Thursday.  Some places may be 20 degrees above normal!!

Friday will stay on the mild side, but there will be a few rain showers around as a cold front approaches the Northeast.  The best chance for rain will be in the morning and then we'll likely see some sun for the afternoon.  Not a lot of rain is expected and many may not even see a drop.  Here's a look at total precipitation expected through Friday afternoon.

Beyond that, it does turn much cooler for the weekend, but at the moment it should stay dry.  We'll have more on the weekend forecast in our next blog on Friday.  Until then, have a great week and enjoy the warmer temperatures.  And don't forget to follow us on social media, also check out our podcast called The Weather Lounge.
