Finally, A Nice Weekend !!

May 1, 2020 // Article by: Brad Miller

Hey, what do you know...we turn the calendar to May and the Northeast gets to enjoy a pleasant weekend. There is one small chance for rain, but it will be in the evening. We'll get to the forecast in a bit. First, let's check out what the average high and low temperatures for the first few days of May should be.

  Average High Average Low
Boston 62 46
Hartford 67 44
New York City 67 50
Philadelphia 70 50
Baltimore 71 48
Washington, DC 72 53

Yes, spring is in full force, although lately the weather has been more March-like than anything. The good news: we have a mainly rain free weekend ahead of us. After a damp Friday along the I-95 corridor, drier air will overspread the region with high pressure sliding across New England. This will lend us a fair amount of sunshine, along with pleasant temperatures. Here's a look at those expected temperatures for 2 PM Saturday.

Like mentioned earlier, there is a small chance for some rain this weekend. A few showers will be possible Saturday night as a fast moving disturbance glides across the area. Any rain will be light and should be gone by Sunday morning. The only exception will be eastern New England, but even there, rain chances will quickly decrease late Sunday morning. Here's a look at the simulated radar from the NAM for 8 AM Sunday.

Once that system exits, we'll be left with a fine Sunday.  Once again, we should see a fair amount of sunshine along with a mild afternoon. Check out the temperatures for 2 PM Sunday.

Another system will head for the East Coast late Sunday, but any rain should hold off until the evening.  A quick peek into next week, it looks cooler than normal, but also a much less active pattern.  That means it should be drier with only minimal chances for rain. That's it for now. Have a great weekend everyone and try to enjoy some sunshine !!
