Stays Quiet This Week...

May 10, 2021 // Article by: Brad Miller

After a chilly rain to end the weekend here in the Northeast, this week will offer a much drier and eventually milder pattern.  Now, it will stay a bit on the cooler side Monday afternoon and Tuesday and there may even be a few light showers around both afternoons, but it won't amount to much.  The sprinkles be compared to scattered flurries in the winter as a few weak disturbances glide along the northwest flow.  But, since temps will be in the 50s and 60s, any precipitation will be rain (well, it is almost the middle of May).  Anyway, here is a look at total rainfall through Tuesday afternoon. Again, not much expected with any of these showers and they won't last too long as they will be moving rather swiftly.

After Tuesday, the rest of the work week looks just fine as high pressure builds across the Northeast and New England.  And while there could be a few "pop-up" showers Friday afternoon, most locations will remain dry.  Temperatures will then be the main focus of the forecast.  It doesn't get too warm just yet, but afternoon highs Thursday and Friday look to be at least normal for mid-May.  Here is a look at forecast temperatures at 2 PM for both days.

So, that's about it for now.  Definitely a quieter week on the way with a subtle warming trend.  And if you are looking for sustained warmth and maybe an early taste of summer, you could be in luck next week.  Stay safe everyone and don't forget to check us out on social media and drop by our podcast called The Weather Lounge.
