Stays Seasonably Warm In The Northeast...

July 26, 2021 // Article by: Brad Miller

After a fairly quiet weekend with just a few showers and storms, we have a nice start to the new work week here in the Northeast.  The next few days will offer a couple of rain chances, but a good portion of the week looks to be rain free.

Most of Tuesday will stay on the dry side before rain chances increase late in the afternoon and especially at night as a cold front approaches the area. And while everyone along the I-95 corridor will have a threat for showers and storms Tuesday night, the greatest coverage looks to focus from New York City to Boston.  Here is a look at the simulated radar for 10 PM Tuesday.

The cold front will slide off the East Coast late Tuesday night taking most the rain with it.  However, we can't rule out a late day storm on Wednesday from Philadelphia to Washington, DC.  Otherwise, the rest of the Northeast will enjoy plenty of sunshine and lower humidity.  Check out these temperatures for 2 PM Wednesday (again, stays a bit more warm and muggy closer to the front in the Mid-Atlantic).

The greatest risk for showers and storms this week will be on Thursday as another cold front pushes into the Northeast. And while most of the activity likely holds off until the afternoon, a few of the storms may become strong to severe and capable of producing gusty winds and hail.  Here is a look at the simulated radar for 5 PM Thursday.

That cold front will sweep offshore by early Friday and lend to a pleasant finish to the work week.  We should see a fair amount of sunshine on Friday along with lower dewpoints meaning it will feel rather comfortable for late July.

Right now, it looks like the nice conditions will continue into the weekend, but we'll have more on that in our next blog this Friday.
