Staying Unsettled This Week...

April 14, 2020 // Article by: Brad Miller

After a very windy and stormy Monday across the Northeast, the rest of the work week will feature a few fast moving disturbances.  Any rain looks to be on the lighter side and believe it or not, there could even be some snowflakes mixed in, especially for interior locations.  The first disturbance will swing across the area Tuesday night.  Look for scattered light rain showers to develop and move east towards the coast as we get closer to Wednesday morning.  It may be cold enough for some wet snow to mix in well inland, but accumulations are unlikely.  Rain amounts should be less than a tenth of an inch and the showers should exit the I-95 corridor by 8 or 9 AM Wednesday.  That should lend to at least partly sunny skies for Wednesday afternoon, but another disturbance arrives Wednesday night.  This one may have a bit more of a punch, so another round of rain showers can be expected.  However, at the same time, there may be enough cold air to support a few snow showers.  This of course would be confined to inland locations and it's possible that we could see some grassy coatings.  Here is a look at the simulated radar for 5 AM Thursday morning.

A few additional rain/mix showers could linger into Wednesday afternoon, but any precipitation will be light and with temperatures climbing into the 40s, no wintry issues are anticipated.  Beyond that, we have our eyes on yet another weather system that may impact the Northeast on Friday.  Once again, it could be cold enough for some wet snow across interior locations as this chilly, winter-like pattern continues.  Here is a look at the simulated radar for 2 PM Friday.  Not a guarantee to happen, but definitely interesting for sure.

Well, that's it for now.  We'll continue to watch each of these systems through the week, but again, don't be surprised if some folks get some springtime snow.  Please stay safe and healthy !!
