Some Rain & Snow Showers, Then Quiet Weather...

November 16, 2020 // Article by: Brad Miller

After a wild finish to the weekend with gusty showers and storms, quiet weather returned on Monday to the Northeast.  It was a bit on the windy side, but overall a seasonable mid-November day.  However, a strong cold front will be heading towards the I-95 corridor on Tuesday.  This will allow for scattered rain and snow showers to develop, especially during the afternoon.  Temperatures will be above freezing, so anything that falls during the day will likely just melt on contact.  However, a disturbance will swing across the area behind the front Tuesday evening into Tuesday night.  This will continue the threat for flurries along with some scattered snow showers (mainly Philadelphia to Boston).  Also by then, temperatures will be falling towards freezing (especially away from the coast).  This will result in the potential for some light accumulations of snow (again, mainly away from the coast).  Here is a look at those forecast snowfall amounts through Tuesday night.

Once we get past Tuesday, the rest of the week looks rather nice as high pressure settles over the Northeast.  It will be rather chilly on Wednesday, in fact, probably the coldest day so far this fall.  High temperatures will only reach the 30s and 40s along with a brisk northwest wind.  That will lead us into the coldest night so far as well.  Take a look at forecast temperatures at 7 AM Thursday.

After the cold start to Thursday, temperatures quickly moderate into the 50s by Thursday afternoon.  Beyond that, it turns even milder on Friday as high pressure remains in control lending to a fair amount of sunshine as well.  Here is a look at the forecast temperatures for 1 PM Friday.

Into the weekend, temperatures will be turning milder and with dry weather, it might be a good time to put up some holiday decorations. I know it's early, but it's never a bad idea to take advantage of warm-ish weather in mid to late November!
