After another heavy rain event on Thursday in the Northeast, the final weekend of September looks rather quiet with just a few minor things to watch. A cold front which produced the heavy rain will stay just close enough to the coast to keep a few showers in the forecast Saturday night, but mainly from eastern Long Island to eastern Massachusetts. Check out the HRRR forecast model showing this shower activity around 5 AM Sunday.

The good news is that any showers should exit southeast New England by 8 or 9 AM on Sunday, leaving the rest of the day dry with some sunshine. Outside of that, the rest of the Northeast is expected to stay rain free both Saturday and Sunday. Here is a look at forecast rain amounts up and down the I-95 corridor this weekend.

As for temperatures, it will be quite comfortable all weekend long. A bit chilly at night where it stays clear, but the sunshine will make it feel nice during the afternoon. Sunday will likely be a few degrees cooler than Saturday, but overall, quite nice for the first weekend of fall. Enjoy !!
